Olea serves Blue Bottle Coffee, which we'd experienced on our trip through San Francisco last August. It's some of the best coffee I've ever had, and having a beautifully prepared latte right after a 12-hour flight was a great way to start our visit home. (Of course, the great company was a big part of that happy welcome home, too!)
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Americans do a great brunch, and there's really nothing that beats a leisurely Sunday spent with friends doing exactly that. We were a little sad that our San Francisco stop was so short, but we're so glad we were able to catch up with our friends.
Oh, and that challah French toast was for the ages. Custardy, crisped by the butter on the pan, and just the right amount of sweet. Absolutely lovely.
