{ hi there. }
That's me with our kids, the Gravy Baby (center) and Gravy Too (right)
I started this blog in 2009 because my husband ("the hubby") and I moved from Washington, DC to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. My husband's job took him there; my devotion to our new marriage took me. I left behind our friends and family and put my career as a lawyer on hold. At the time, I was excited but nervous about not having anything to do with my time. I love to eat and cook, but I was really worried about turning into a tub of walking goo if that was the only thing on my agenda.
It turns out that having a baby turned parts of me into a tub of goo. While living in Malaysia, I gave birth to a little boy, whom I call The Gravy Baby on this blog. We're delighted that he loves eating as much as his parents do. In 2013, we added another little eater to our clan, a baby girl whom we've nicknamed Gravy Too.
By the time our time overseas drew to a close in the summer of 2011, I found myself enriched in ways I'd never imagined. I learned to let go of the idea that my career is the only way to identify myself, and I learned how to worry less about accomplishing and focus more on doing. That's what I strive to make this blog about -- focusing on the delicious life we all live, whether it's through food, family and friends, or just plain laughter. Thanks for following along as I cook, eat and travel my way through the Deep (fried) South!
